A Flash of Red

Against dark stone, a red fox is almost impossible to miss. These photographs are built around that contrast: warm fur against cool rock, quick expression against heavy forms, and an animal that seems at once conspicuous and completely at home.

Rather than a single portrait, the sequence follows posture and presence—the direct gaze, the glance back, the long sweep of the tail, and the way the fox’s body folds into the geometry of the rocks around it.

Against the rock, the fox becomes almost luminous. The color draws the eye first, but the longer I look, the more the series becomes about form: ears, legs, tail, and posture set against the weight and texture of stone.
