Above and Below
Some sightings demand patience. This one demanded a decision. A pack of African painted dogs held the ground while tawny eagles occupied the branches above them, including an unusually pale morph.
Every few seconds there was another reason to point the camera somewhere else. The photographs became less about choosing the “right” subject and more about trying to keep up with a wild scene unfolding on two levels at once.

This was the problem with the sighting: every time I settled on a subject, something else demanded the camera. The painted dogs kept the ground alive with rest, contact, watchfulness, and movement. Above them, tawny eagles—including a striking pale morph—kept pulling my attention into the trees and sky. There was no right place to look, only another remarkable thing happening somewhere else.
