Doing Elephant Things
An elephant being an elephant—muddy, expressive, slightly awkward, and full of personality.
I photographed this elephant in Kruger National Park, and what I like most about the image is how completely it captures the character of the animal.
There is no grand pose or dramatic confrontation here. The posture, folded ear, trunk, and the way the body settles into the scene reveal the small gestures and ordinary moments that make time around elephants so memorable.
Printed as a glossy metal print, the finish brings out the deep tones, textured skin, and surrounding greens while giving the photograph the presence of a large statement piece.
