On Watch
A baboon pauses comfortably in the crook of a tree, keeping watch from a well-chosen perch.
On Watch captures a baboon perched comfortably in the crook of a tree, pausing above the surrounding landscape with the easy confidence of an animal completely at home there.
Baboons are endlessly expressive animals, and I like this photograph because there is nothing especially dramatic happening. The appeal is in the posture, the watchful expression, and the wonderfully casual way the animal occupies the tree—as though this particular branch was always meant to be a seat.
The surrounding bark and foliage give the portrait plenty of texture while still allowing the baboon to emerge clearly from the scene. It feels less like a formal wildlife portrait and more like a brief glimpse into an ordinary moment in another animal’s day.
Printed on enhanced matte paper, the low-sheen finish preserves the photograph’s detail and restrained fine-art character.
Printful handles production and fulfillment.
