Thief Teef

This vervet monkey lives near one of the scenic lookout points in Kruger National Park, where he has apparently learned that vehicles full of distracted visitors can present certain opportunities. On this particular day, he made a run at our vehicle in hopes of helping himself to whatever he could find. I shooed him away before the robbery could be completed. He promptly retreated to his nearby perch, turned back toward us, and made his displeasure very clear by showing us exactly how big his teeth were. The result is one of those wildlife moments I love most: not a grand spectacle, but a brief encounter overflowing with behavior and personality.
